“You just don’t realize how much you are helping the seniors here at Evergreen!” Volunteer coordinator Phyllis Thompson surprised some of the young Pathfinders with these words at Evergreen Retirement Center. Several Pathfinder clubs from the International Pathfinder Camporee in Oshkosh, Wis., worked together to sort, label and fold clothes for the retirement center residents. The residents smiled as the Pathfinders entered their rooms and introduced themselves.
Pathfinders from the Georgia-Cumberland Conference, Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada, and the Southwest Region Conference worked together, visiting with the seniors while collecting clothes from closets and drawers for sorting. Alexia Griggs from Houston’s Berean Eagles Pathfinder club stated, “We really didn’t feel like we were doing that much, but the residents were so happy to see us; we felt like we were actually doing something important after all.”
